Bluescope was approached in April 2020 to discuss a website redesign project for their barbering website, retrobarbers.ie. Retro Barber’s existing website was built on WordPress CMS, which allowed for a smooth transition and an already easy-to-use platform for users of the site.
A main feature of the new website redesign was to include an integrated booking system that would allow customers of Retro Barber to book their haircut or other barbering services online. Along with this, Retro Barber was to continue with an e-commerce Shop page and was to have a new and fresh look overall.
Retro Barber is Limerick’s most decorated barber shop who have picked up many awards over the years. The staff at Retro are always updating their skills and up to date with all the latest styles and pride themselves on hard work, and offering high quality, modern, creative and traditional cuts.
The newly redesigned website includes a fully mobile-responsive design with the functionality to take bookings for many services offered at Retro. Customers can follow an easy-to-use form to book the date/time of their choice, as well as which barber they would like to perform the service. Payments are made securely through the booking process.
Along with the booking system and the e-commerce shop, the website boasts a Training Academy to students willing to train as a barber. A range of courses are offered on the website using the booking system’s Events functionality. Creating events with the booking system offers functionality such as: price of event, capacity, location, recurring dates/times, and much more.
During development, the existing website remained live while we built the redesign in a staging environment. As the website was developed during the COVID-19 global pandemic, the new website was unable to take bookings until the hairdressing industry in Ireland were allowed to open. Once the website went live in mid-June, Retro was able to begin taking numerous bookings for their re-opening date of June 29th, 2020.
