DLR Sports Partnership

Bluescope engaged with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership (DLR Sports) in November 2022 to discuss a website redesign project for their website, dlrsportspartnership.ie. DLR Sports’ existing site structure was on Joomla CMS. They had a number of menu items on their website that caused the website to become a bit cluttered. Additionally, the website was in need of a refresh of new content and imagery with a special focus on latest news and upcoming events.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Sports Partnership was set up in 2008. DLR Sports Partnership works closely with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s Sports Development Office and other key partners to promote participation, inclusion and coordination in sport at a local level.

Over the course of development, the existing DLR Sports website remained live while we developed their new website in a staging environment. We worked closely with the DLR Sports team and developed a website tailored to their needs with mobile functionality and accessibility features in mind. The new website is fully mobile-responsive which allows their customers to view the website on any device. The website also hosts a number of accessibility features, including text-to-speech functionality.

Eventbrite was a tool of choice that DLR Sports used to sell tickets for upcoming events. Instead of duplicating their workload by inputting all event data again into the website to promote upcoming events, we linked the DLR Sports website with Eventbrite so that upcoming events are displayed across the website. Once an event is published on their Eventbrite page, it is automatically added to the website. Users have the bonus of being able to securely checkout tickets for events without leaving the DLR Sports website.

Before switching over to the new site, we ensured that all best practice SEO methods were in place, including necessary 301 redirects. Without these in place, Search Engines such as Google would not know which pages to send their customers. The new site replaced the old site with minimal disruption and has been running smoothly since its launch in June 2023.
