Accessibility Statement

Bluescope Technologies wants everyone to be able to use scope.ie, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, voice control or other assistive technology. This statement explains how accessible the website is, what we know still falls short and how to contact us if something does not work for you.

Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These are the international guidelines for making web content accessible and the basis of the European standard EN 301 549.

Compliance status

scope.ie is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Content we create and control meets the standard as far as our testing can show. Some content supplied by third parties, listed below, may not.

What we have done

  • A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page, and every page has a clear main content area and a single main heading.
  • The menus, the search box and every form can be used with a keyboard alone. Pop-up panels such as search and the mobile menu move focus into the panel, close with the Escape key and return you to where you were.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible, and the page scrolls so that the cookie banner and the sticky header never hide the item you are on.
  • Text and important icons meet the WCAG contrast ratios, and links in running text are underlined.
  • Icon-only buttons and links, such as social media icons, carry text labels for screen readers. Links that open a new tab say so.
  • The animated background on the home page can be paused, and it starts paused if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Pages work at 400% zoom and on screens 320 pixels wide without scrolling sideways, and text can be spaced out without being cut off.
  • The accessibility toolbar on the left of every page lets you switch to high contrast and increase the font size.
  • Our contact forms label every field, mark required fields, explain errors in words and support browser autofill.

Known limitations

The following content comes from other companies. We cannot change how it works.

  • Advertising. Some blog posts show Google AdSense advertisements. Their content and layout are set by Google and may not meet WCAG.
  • Embedded videos. A small number of pages embed YouTube videos published by Microsoft and others. Captions are provided by the video owners and we have not checked their accuracy.
  • Maps. Embedded Google Maps have limited keyboard and screen reader support. Our address is also given as text on our Contact page.
  • Social media and reviews. The Instagram feed is supplied by Instagram, and the Google reviews by Google through a third-party plugin.
  • reCAPTCHA. Our forms use Google reCAPTCHA to block spam. If it stops you sending a form, please email or phone us instead.

How we tested this website

This statement was prepared on 05/10/2026 from a self-assessment carried out by Bluescope Technologies. We tested every public page at desktop and mobile sizes with the axe-core automated testing engine (version 4.13), and checked keyboard access, visible focus, colour contrast, zoom and reflow, text spacing, moving content and form behaviour by hand.
