Bluescope was approached by Delta Sports Dome in August 2019 to discuss a website redesign project for their sports complex website, deltasportsdome.com. Delta Sports Dome’s existing site structure was on WordPress CMS. A main feature of the website was to display their facility timetable, which they felt had become a bit dated.
Delta Sports Dome’s previous main menu structure included many of the sports and activities available at their complex, but unfortunately left little room to expand the menu with additional items. We proposed condensing this menu into three key categories: Fitness, Sports, and Kids. Under each of these menu items, we would include a mega menu design that would allow Delta Sports Dome to showcase all of their activities in a neat and easy-to-read format.
Delta Sports Dome is a purposely built venue focusing on fitness, sports & activity. The centre is home to a range of business’ and provides world class facilities to the Limerick region and beyond. The centre has hosted various sporting events and features a cafe, various indoor astroturf pitches, changing rooms, fitness studios/gyms and regular fitness classes.
Over the course of three and a half months, the existing Delta Sports Dome website remained live while we developed their new website in a staging environment. By working closely with the Delta Sports Dome team, we were able to create a website tailored to their needs while keeping mobile functionality in mind, as almost 80% of their website users were mobile users.
The new website includes a fully mobile-responsive Facility Timetable which allows users to quickly see what classes/courses are on and upcoming. The timetable can be filtered to show a variety of categories, such as: All Classes, Fitness, Yoga, Spin, and more. Additionally, an e-commerce element has been added to the website to allow users to securely purchase various Gift Cards from the website.
Before switching over to the new site, we ensured that all best practice SEO methods were in place, including necessary 301 redirects. Without these in place, Search Engines such as Google would not know which pages to send their customers. The new site replaced the old site with no disruption and has been running smoothly since its launch at the beginning of January 2020.
