  • Setup and migration: we set up your Microsoft 365 account, users and email, and move your existing email and files across.

Microsoft 365 and GDPR Compliance

Microsoft 365 is designed with industry-leading security measures and privacy policies to safeguard your data in the cloud, including the categories of personal data identified by the GDPR. Microsoft 365 can help you on your journey to reducing risks and achieving compliance with the GDPR.

One essential step to meeting the GDPR obligations is discovering and controlling what personal data you hold and where it resides. Microsoft 365 tools that can help you identify or manage access to personal data include:

  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) can identify sensitive information such as financial, medical and personally identifiable data, and stop it being shared by mistake.
  • Microsoft Purview data lifecycle management helps you find, classify, set policies on and manage the lifecycle of the data that is most important to your organisation.
  • Microsoft Purview eDiscovery finds text and metadata in content across your Microsoft 365 data, for example during a compliance investigation.

Another core requirement of the GDPR is protecting personal data against security threats. Microsoft 365 features that safeguard data and help identify when a data breach occurs include:

  • Microsoft Defender for Office 365 helps protect your email against new, sophisticated malware and phishing attacks in real time.
  • Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps helps you identify high-risk and abnormal usage, alerting you to potential breaches.
  • Microsoft 365 audit logs let you track user and administrator activity across Microsoft 365, helping with early detection and investigation of security and compliance issues.

Some of these features are only included in certain plans, such as Business Premium, or are available as add-ons. We can advise you on what your plan includes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Microsoft 365 plan is right for my business?

Business Basic suits teams that work in a browser and on mobile, with business email, Teams and OneDrive. Business Standard adds the full desktop apps. Business Premium adds advanced security and device management, and is the plan we usually recommend for businesses that handle sensitive data.

What is the difference between an annual and a monthly commitment?

An annual commitment, paid monthly, costs less per user. You can add licences at any time, but you can only reduce them when the term renews. A monthly commitment costs more but can be reduced each month. Each plan above shows both prices.

Can we keep our existing email address?

Yes. Microsoft 365 works with your own domain, and we move your existing email, calendars and contacts across as part of the setup.

Do the prices include VAT?

No. All Microsoft 365 prices on this page are per user per month and exclusive of VAT.

Do you support Microsoft 365 after setup?

Yes. User and mailbox management, permissions and troubleshooting are covered by our Managed IT Services or a Bluescope Direct Support block of hours.

Can we use Microsoft Teams as our phone system?

Yes. With Microsoft Teams Phone your team makes and takes calls in the Teams app. See our VoIP page for details.
