Bluescope was approached by Meath Local Sports Partnership (MLSP) in October 2021 to discuss a website redesign project for their site, meathsports.ie. MLSP’s existing site structure was on WordPress CMS but was unfortunately a bit outdated and needed a revamp as well as adding some new functionality.
Meath LSP undertake a wide range of actions with the aim of increasing sport and physical activity participation levels in local communities across Meath. They believe that sport and physical activity should be enjoyable, make us feel good, improve our health and wellbeing, increase our skills and introduce us to new people and places.
MLSP’s existing website included a lot of menu items that required some further categorisation. We worked hard with MLSP to organise all existing pages into a clear and concise layout on the new website. This followed the 3-click rule where a user can get to where they need to go within 3 clicks. All pages were manually brought across to the new website to keep in line with the new layout and design.
The existing website included a directory of all Clubs across Meath. This was previously updated regularly by admins of the MLSP website. This proved to be quite time consuming. To circumvent a lot of this admin work, we added a new Club Directory for MLSP where a user of the website could sign up to the website and add their Club to the directory. This would then be added to the back-end of the website as ‘Pending’. An admin of MLSP would then review the listing and approve before it is added to the front-end of the website. Email notifications are sent to both parties at every step of this process.
Over the course of development, the existing MLSP website remained live while we developed their new website in a staging environment. By working closely with the MLSP team, we were able to create a website tailored to their needs while keeping mobile functionality in mind. The new website is fully mobile-responsive which allows their customers to view the site on any mobile device.Β
Before switching over to the new site, we ensured that all best practice SEO methods were in place, including necessary 301 redirects. Without these in place, Search Engines such as Google would not know which pages to send their users to. The new site replaced the old site with minimal disruption and has been running smoothly since its launch at the end of August 2022.
