Overview

In July 2024, the Irish Powerlifting Organisation (IPO) approached Bluescope to help establish their first-ever website. With no existing online presence, IPO entrusted us to manage the entire process, from the initial setup to the final launch.

Founded in 2002 by Shane Brodie and Tommy Dillon, the IPO began with a modest group of 23 members who shared a passion for lifting.

Our project kicked off by exploring domain name options that were available and aligned with IPO’s vision. After considering various choices, we secured powerliftingireland.ie as the ideal domain. Since this was a fresh domain with no prior website, there was no need for a staging environment. Instead, we put up a ‘Coming Soon’ page while the full site was being built in the background.

Throughout the next month, we collaborated closely with IPO to populate the site with content and images that highlighted their achievements and the events they organize. An events calendar was integrated to feature upcoming competitions, with secure online ticket purchasing functionality. Customers could conveniently buy tickets through the website and receive them via email.

Additionally, we implemented a “Become a Member” feature, allowing users to fill out an online form and pay an annual membership fee to join IPO, all processed securely through the site.

Since this was a new website and domain, we employed best-practice SEO techniques to expedite the indexing process by Google and other search engines. We also installed Google Analytics to track the site’s performance and improve visibility.

Duration of Development

Bluescope began website development in July 2024 and the website was completed the next month, at the beginning of August 2024.
